There are millions of young people who are better suited for working directly with things rather than thinking up new processes – this has always been the case. Historically societies have had great need for these skilled craftspeople, artisans and tradesmen. They made possible the “built environment” and kept it running. There have always been doers and thinkers. During this most recent half century, though, we have deluded ourselves into believing that everyone can be, and more importantly wants to be, a thinker.
